The Awde Education Fund

Although the sole purpose of the Fund is  to advance education, it cannot currently be registered as a charitable organization with CRA, since loans and awards are restricted to descendants of James Awde and Sarah Allan.

Therefore while the Education Fund can receive donations, it cannot issue receipts for these gifts for income tax purposes.

You may still wish to contribute to the Awde Education Fund to support the loan program or establish special recognition awards and bursaries for academic, athletic or volunteer service achievements, or to help defray operating expenses like financial audits, postage, etc.

The Awde Education Fund adheres to the guidlelines established by the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy. 

Donations will be directed as follows:

• Contributions up to $1,000 will be added to the loan program fund.

• Contributions of $1,000 to $10,000 may support one time awards, be added to the loan program fund or directed toward conservation and woodlands development as directed by the donor.

• Contributions over $10,000 may be designated for ongoing awards or added to the loan program fund as directed by the donor. Currently, the total amount awarded annually would be about 3.00% of the amount invested.
