Interest free Student Loans for up to 80% of the cost of the tuition are available. Tuition is defined as the cost of the instruction portion of the total fees paid for each term. The Fund does not cover costs for student services, health services, athletics and recreation or costs for registration and transcript fees, etc. The following Awards & Grants are offered for 2008/09 academic year. -Students achieving grades in the top 10 percent of their program in their year will have 10% of the loan amount for that year forgiven. -Students achieving the highest grades in their year for their program will have 20% of the loan amount for that academic year forgiven. -The Sarah Allan Awde bursary of $500.00 may be provided to the student applying for assistance with the highest marks in their senior year of secondary school entering their first year of a Canadian college or university. - The James Awde bursary of $1000.00 may be awarded to qualifying third year students with an academic average of 85% or higher in plant biology, environmental studies or agriculture programs in Canadian universities . - The Awde Architecture bursaries of $1000.00 may be awarded to qualifying third or fourth year students with an academic average of at least 85% in architecture or urban planning programs in Canadian universities. Funding may also be made available for Special Tutoring or similar academic assistance requirements. Up to $1,000 may be paid over the duration of the program to a tutor accredited by the post-secondary institution being attended. Funds will be paid directly to the institution providing the additional tutoring assistance. At the discretion of the Directors, these funds may be provided as a grant where it can be demonstrated that the student's grades have significantly improved as a result of the extra assistance. |
